Dones Media LLC - About Us


Elvira Dones is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, journalist, novelist and screenwriter of Albanian origin. Her latest TV documentary, "Sworn Virgins" (coproduced by Dones Media and the Swiss Public Broadcasting Company), was nominated Best Documentary at the Baltimore Women's Film Festival '07, and was featured in the Washington Post and the Chicago Tribune. A previous documentary shot by Elvira for Swiss Public TV, "I ngujuar", won the Silver FIPA in France and the Mediterranean Reportage Award in Italy.

Elvira's fiction books (the first seven originally written in Albanian, the last one in Italian) have been published in Italy, France and Albania (here is Elvira's literary website).
Elvira also writes for the Italian edition of Vanity Fair, as well as for Albanian magazines.
She speaks English, Italian, Albanian, Spanish and French.

Dones Media LLC - Vasco Dones

Vasco Dones is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, producer and journalist of Swiss origin who has spent twentyone years working for the Italian-speaking branch of Swiss Public Broadcasting Company, shooting documentaries all over Europe and in the States.

After moving to the DC metro area in 2004, Vasco has continued to produce short and long documentaries for Swiss TV as a free-lance, while occasionally writing a column on the US for a Swiss weekly magazine (and delivering the accompanying still pictures).

Vasco speaks English, Italian, German, Swiss-German and French.
